Danze Parma Pot Filler
Danze D205058SS Wall Mount Filler
I’m the oatmeal cooker in our house. So, when we started our new house build, the first thing I wanted was a kitchen pot filler. It sounds lazy. What? I can’t walk two feet from the kitchen sink to the stove? Agree. It may be lazy, but it is Awfully Convenient and Fun. Imagine cooking for your kids and filling up the pot right at the stove:
New Home Pot Filler Installation
If you are building a New Home, you need to tell your architect, framers and plumbers early on that you will be plumbing for a kitchen pot filler. It is generally not on their checklist of things to do. If you forget to do it early on, it will cost you a lot later. The cost to plumb for a pot filler on a new house is not a lot. For hardware and labor, you are looking at about $500.
How to Choose a Pot Filler
These are the Steps that we took in choosing our Danze Pot Filler
2). Talk to your Plumber. He may have recommendations on brands that will fit his hardware and your home.
3). Consider quality of construction. Not all kitchen pot fillers are made the same. Some will leak from the back end which will cause nightmares down the road. Saving $100 bucks now, may lose you Thousands later.
4). Consider the Arm Length. The Spouts will reach from about 14 inches to 22 inches. The Danze D205058SS that we chose has a 22 inch reach. A 14 inch pot filler will not do. It won’t be long enough to reach over a big pot on the front stoves:
How to Use a Pot Filler
The First day in our new house and the first time I used the pot filler, I accidentally turned on the outer faucet first, spraying water all over the stove and getting in trouble.
The Danze comes with an off turn faucet located at the back by the backsplash. So if you turn this handle than the main water is off and you can’t accidentally turn it on. We always leave this in the off position when not in use:
Fold it back to the wall
One thing I would have done differently though is I would have had the plumbers plumb the kitchen pot filler on the side of the backsplash so that it folded in the middle of the backsplash. Not a huge problem, but something I would do differently if I could go back in time.
