We play family games
Sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes I hate it. But I’ll always do it if ask.
So when we play games, I want to make sure I enjoy it.
These are the games that I enjoy playing with my family the most.
So you can help determine if these games will work for your family, here is some of the details about my family.
My oldest daughter is 11 years old, she has a really mild and helpful personality.
My oldest son is 9 years old and he is very competitive.
My second son is 6 years old and he can play any of these games with us. He’s in the middle of his kindergarten class for smarts and behavior.
My youngest son is 4 and he pretends that he knows how to play.
Very easy to pull out and play at any time. This game is enjoyed by our four year old. This is actually one of my favorites to play, because I can lay down when playing.
Stratego (Modern Version)
I really like the modern version of stratego and I play it often with my 9 year old son. In this game the #1 attack piece can “guess” the number of the opponents piece. If it is right than the opponent’s piece is removed from the board. This one rule change alone means that even if you lose your spy you can still win without a 10 piece.
Cover Your Assets Card Game
This game is enjoyed by everyone in our family, including our 4 year old. Plenty of hilarity and jealous hoarding of cards. Great game.
Enjoyed by adults and Older Kids
A great family game if you have middle school and high school students that are competitive.
*This game beat my expectations. I was not expecting to like it. Loved it.
We all play this game together, even our 4 year old (though he requires help). The 11 and 9 year old would say this is their favorite game.
Maybe a little advanced for elementary students
But always enjoyable.
Sheriff of Nottingham
Currently our favorite Game
9 year old picked up on it really easily. Fun game of negotiation and trickery.
New Games keep coming out and I thought I would update this list. Here are some additional games that we have been playing lately that we love:
